Image facts
Choose an image to see its size in pixels and KB, its shape, DPI and print size.
How to use it
Choose an image: a photo, a scan or a screenshot.
Read its size in pixels and KB, its shape, DPI and print size, at once.
Compress or resize it next if it doesn't fit what you need.
What it tells you
| Dimensions | Width and height in pixels, as the photo is shown |
|---|---|
| File size | In KB or MB, and the exact number of bytes |
| Shape | Such as 4:3, 16:9 or 1:1 |
| Resolution | The DPI stored in the file, if any |
| Print size | How large it prints at 300 DPI, in cm and inches |
| Location | Whether the photo says where it was taken |
Before you upload to a form
Application forms often ask for an exact size, such as a width and height in pixels and a limit in KB. Check your photo here first: if it is too big, Compress it or Resize it with one tap, and the photo opens in that tool.
KB, KiB and bytes
A form's "100 KB" may mean 100,000 or 102,400 bytes. The checker shows the exact bytes, so you can tell either way; ChobiKit's compressor keeps files under the smaller number, which passes both.
A photo's hidden location
Phones often store where a photo was taken inside the file. The checker shows when a photo carries a location, and every other ChobiKit tool leaves it out of the copies it saves.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check the size of an image?
Choose the image: its width and height in pixels, its size in KB and bytes, its shape, DPI and print size show at once. Nothing is changed and nothing is uploaded.
How do I find an image's size in KB?
Choose it here: the file size shows in KB or MB with the exact number of bytes. 1 KB is counted as 1,000 bytes, as most forms count it.
How do I see an image's dimensions in pixels?
Choose it here: the width and height show in pixels, turned the way the photo is displayed, even when the camera stored it on its side.
What DPI is my photo?
If the file stores one, it shows here. Many phone photos store none; DPI only matters for printing, and the checker shows how large the photo prints at 300 DPI.
My image is too big for a form. What next?
Press Compress it to bring it under a size in KB, or Resize it to change its pixels. The photo opens in that tool straight away.
Can it tell where a photo was taken?
It tells you whether the file holds a location; it doesn't show the place. ChobiKit's other tools leave the location out when they save a copy.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The checker reads the file in your browser, and nothing is sent to a server. It is free, with no sign-up.
