Two ways to compress
To a size in KB
Type the size you need, from 10 KB to 2 MB. ChobiKit looks for the highest quality that fits, so the file looks as good as it can at that size and never goes over it.
By quality
Choose a quality and see the size you get. A lower quality makes a smaller file.
As JPG or WebP
Save as JPG, which every website and form accepts, or as WebP, which is often smaller at the same quality.
Up to 10 images at once
Compress a batch to the same size or quality, then download one ZIP file.
What makes a file smaller
An image's size in KB depends on two things: how many pixels it has, and how much detail is kept in each part of the picture (the quality).
- A lower quality leaves out fine detail the eye barely notices, such as grain in a dark sky. Most of the saving comes from this.
- Fewer pixels make a smaller file at any quality.
- Simple pictures, such as a signature, a logo or a page of text, get much smaller than busy ones, such as leaves or a crowd.
If a photo can't reach your size at its width and height, ChobiKit tells you, offers to make it smaller in pixels, and tries again.
When to compress an image
- A job or admission form sets a maximum file size in KB.
- An email, chat or form refuses files over a limit.
- A website loads slowly because each photo is several MB.
- Your phone or cloud storage is filling up with large photos.
Tips for the best result
- Start from the original photo, not a screenshot or a copy that was compressed before.
- If the form also gives a width and height, resize first, then compress: fewer pixels leave more KB for detail.
- Before you download, switch between Original and Result and look closely at faces and text.
- JPG can't keep transparent areas, so they become white. Choose WebP to keep them.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compress an image to a size in KB?
Choose your image, select To a file size, type the size you need (for example 50 or 100), and press Compress. The tool tries different qualities and keeps the one that comes closest to your size without going over.
What sizes can I compress to?
Any size from 10 KB to 2,000 KB (about 2 MB). If an image can't get that small at its width and height, the tool tells you and offers to make it smaller in pixels as well.
Will compressing make my photo look worse?
Some fine detail is lost, but at most sizes it is hard to see. Switch between Original and Result to compare before you download. If the result looks too soft, choose a larger size.
Which images can I compress?
JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF images up to 20 MB, and iPhone HEIC photos in browsers that can open them. The smaller file is saved as JPG or WebP, whichever you choose.
Can I compress several images at once?
Yes, up to 10 images at a time, downloaded together as a ZIP file.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. ChobiKit compresses your image inside your browser, on your phone or computer. Nothing is sent anywhere, so it is safe for ID photos and documents.
Does it remove the photo's location?
Yes. The saved file keeps none of the original's hidden data, such as the place where the photo was taken.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
