Magic eraser
Brush over it and it's gone, filled in on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use it
Choose a photo.
Brush over what you want gone, and lift your finger: it's filled in from what's around it.
Undo, compare, brush again, then save.
What it can remove
| People | Someone walking through the back of your photo |
|---|---|
| Date stamps and text | The orange date an old camera printed, a watermark, a caption |
| Small things | A wire, a stain, a mark on a wall, a spot on the skin |
How it fills the gap
The eraser uses MI-GAN, an open model made for erasing on phones. It looks at the area around what you brushed and paints in what would be behind it: a wall, sky, grass, a shirt. It works best on areas the size of a person or smaller, on backgrounds without fine detail.
Tips for a clean result
Brush a little wider than the thing itself, so its edge and shadow go too. For something large, erase it in a few strokes rather than one. If a result isn't right, Undo and brush again; Compare shows the photo as it was.
On your phone, not a server
The first time, the eraser downloads its model, about 25 MB; after that it is ready at once. Your photo never leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove something from a photo?
Choose the photo, brush over what you want gone, and lift your finger: it is filled in from what's around it. Then press Save image.
Can I remove a person from a photo?
Yes. Brush over the person and their shadow. A person in front of a plain background, such as a wall, sky or sea, comes out best.
How do I remove a date stamp?
Brush over the date, a little wider than the numbers. It is filled in with what was under it.
Why does it download something the first time?
The eraser runs a model on your device instead of a server. It is about 25 MB and downloads once; then it is ready at once.
Is it really free?
Yes. There are no credits or watermark: everything runs in your browser, which costs us nothing.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The model runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. It is free, with no sign-up.
