Compress image to 100 KB

Make a photo smaller in KB, under any form's limit. Nothing is uploaded.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or AVIF, up to 20 MB. You can choose up to 10 images at once.

Your image stays on your device.

How to use it

  1. Choose one or more images.

  2. Pick a quality, or type the size you need in KB.

  3. Download the smaller file.

What fits in 100 KB

PictureAs JPGAs WebP
A detailed camera photo, 3:2about 1260 by 840 pxabout 1650 by 1100 px
A head-and-shoulders portrait, 3:4about 1010 by 1350 pxabout 1800 by 2400 px

Measured at good quality (80 %) on two real photos. Plain backgrounds, signatures and drawings fit far more pixels; busy pictures, such as leaves or crowds, fewer.

When 100 KB is asked for

  • Photos on job and admission application forms.
  • Profile photos on professional and social sites.
  • Images in emails and online documents.

Tips for 100 KB

  • 100 KB is plenty for a form photo: a portrait of about 1010 by 1350 pixels fits at good quality.
  • A detailed photo of about 1260 by 840 pixels fits too; a whole phone photo needs fewer pixels.
  • If the form also gives a pixel size, resize first, then compress.
  • Keep the original: compressing a compressed copy again loses detail each time.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Choose your image and press Compress: on this page the size is already set to 100 KB. Then download the smaller file.

Will the file be exactly 100 KB?

As close as it can get without going over. ChobiKit tries different qualities and keeps the best one that stays under 100 KB, so the file may come out a little smaller.

Is 100 KB counted as 100,000 or 102,400 bytes?

Forms differ, so ChobiKit keeps the file under 100,000 bytes, which passes either way.

Is this right for a Bangladesh government job photo?

For that form, use the photo and signature resizer instead: it makes the photo the exact pixel size the official BPSC page asks for, keeps it under its KB limit, and does the signature too.

Why won't my image get under 100 KB?

It has too many pixels for 100 KB even at the lowest quality. ChobiKit then offers to make it smaller in pixels and tries again. Cropping away what you don't need helps too.

Is my image uploaded?

No. It is compressed in your browser and never sent to a server. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Ready when you are
