Compress image to 30 KB

Make a photo smaller in KB, under any form's limit. Nothing is uploaded.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or AVIF, up to 20 MB. You can choose up to 10 images at once.

Your image stays on your device.

How to use it

  1. Choose one or more images.

  2. Pick a quality, or type the size you need in KB.

  3. Download the smaller file.

What fits in 30 KB

PictureAs JPGAs WebP
A detailed camera photo, 3:2about 630 by 420 pxabout 820 by 550 px
A head-and-shoulders portrait, 3:4about 470 by 630 pxabout 750 by 1000 px

Measured at good quality (80 %) on two real photos. Plain backgrounds, signatures and drawings fit far more pixels; busy pictures, such as leaves or crowds, fewer.

When 30 KB is asked for

  • Photos on application and registration forms.
  • Profile pictures on websites and apps.
  • Listing photos on marketplaces with small limits.

Tips for 30 KB

  • A portrait of about 470 by 630 pixels, or a detailed photo of about 630 by 420, fits at good quality.
  • If the photo is much bigger, let ChobiKit make it smaller in pixels rather than lower the quality a lot.
  • Crop away empty space around the subject first.
  • JPG is accepted almost everywhere; WebP fits more but not every form takes it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 30 KB?

Choose your image and press Compress: on this page the size is already set to 30 KB. Then download the smaller file.

Will the file be exactly 30 KB?

As close as it can get without going over. ChobiKit tries different qualities and keeps the best one that stays under 30 KB, so the file may come out a little smaller.

Is 30 KB counted as 30,000 or 30,720 bytes?

Forms differ, so ChobiKit keeps the file under 30,000 bytes, which passes either way.

Is 30 KB the same as 30 kb?

Not quite. KB means kilobytes; a small b (kb) means kilobits, eight times less. Forms almost always mean kilobytes, which is what ChobiKit uses.

Why won't my image get under 30 KB?

It has too many pixels for 30 KB even at the lowest quality. ChobiKit then offers to make it smaller in pixels and tries again. Cropping away what you don't need helps too.

Is my image uploaded?

No. It is compressed in your browser and never sent to a server. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Ready when you are

Free, with no sign-up, and nothing is uploaded.
