JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and AVIF, in any direction. Nothing is uploaded.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or AVIF, up to 20 MB. You can choose up to 10 images at once.

Your image stays on your device.

How to use it

  1. Choose one or more images.

  2. Pick JPG, PNG or WebP.

  3. Download the converted file.

Why convert JPG to WebP

  • Websites load faster with WebP images, and every current browser shows them.
  • At the same look, a WebP is often smaller than a JPG.
  • Converting writes a new file, so hidden details such as where the photo was taken are removed.

JPG and WebP compared

FeatureJPGWebP
File sizeSmall for photosUsually the smallest
Transparent areasNo: they turn whiteYes
QualityLossy: leaves out fine detailLossy as ChobiKit saves it, at high quality
Opens inEvery browser, app, form and computerEvery current browser; some older apps and forms refuse it

Both are lossy, so convert from the original photo, not from a copy that was compressed before.

Before you convert JPG to WebP

  • Check the size shown: a JPG that was already compressed hard may not get smaller.
  • If a form asks for JPG, upload the JPG, not the WebP.
  • Keep your original JPG; converting back and forth loses a little detail each time.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert JPG to WebP?

Choose your JPG and press Convert: on this page WebP is already chosen. Then download the WebP file.

Is WebP smaller than JPG?

Often, at the same look. But a JPG that was already compressed hard may not shrink much, and can even grow. The tool shows the new size before you download, so you can keep whichever is smaller.

Why use WebP on a website?

Smaller images make pages load faster, especially on phones and slow connections, and every current browser shows WebP.

Will converting lower the quality?

Very little: WebP is saved at high quality. Each conversion between lossy formats loses a little detail, so convert from the original photo when you can.

Can I convert several JPG files at once?

Yes, up to 10 at a time, downloaded together as one ZIP file.

Are my images uploaded?

No. They are converted in your browser and never sent to a server. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Ready when you are
