What a WebP file is
WebP is an image format Google made for the web. It keeps pictures small so pages load quickly, which is why many images saved from websites end in .webp.
Stickers saved from WhatsApp are WebP files too. A WebP can hold a photo, a picture with see-through parts, or a short animation.
Why a WebP won't open
- Older photo viewers and editors were made before WebP, and don't know the format.
- Many online forms, office programs and print shops take only JPG or PNG.
- Every current web browser shows a WebP: drag the file into a browser window to look at it. To use it anywhere else, save it as JPG or PNG.
